I went to a new book presentation tonight and met my good
friend and author Irma Verolín there. She told me about the event and it was
perfectly located at a bookstore just a few blocks from my apartment. I met the
author of the new book, Susana Aguad. It was a wonderful event that started and
ended with a tango singer with guitar. He sang a famous tango that was written
by Borges and put to music by Astor Piazzolla, “Jacinto Chiclana.”

en una noche lejana,
que alguien dejó caer el nombre
de un tal Jacinto Chiclana.
Algo se dijo también
de una esquina y un cuchillo.
Los años no dejan ver

It was great because lots of people knew the words and were
singing along!
After the presentation Irma introduced me to more authors
who also signed and gave me some of their books. I met Gloria Pampillo (El héroe que vino a buscarme) and her
husband, Ernesto A. Solari (La rueda de
fuego). While at the bookstore I also got María Rosa Lojo’s new book (Bosque de ojos) and picked up a book by
Samanta Schweblin (Pájaros en la boca)
that was recommended to me. So, my book collection is growing!
